Awesome New Bands
Manchester based alternative folk group, The Travelling Band are
now confirmed. And Newcastle's favourite, the Polarsets, serving up
their unique 'deep-disco' style will be a welcome addition to the
brimming IAStival line-up.
With an already eclectic mix of music on the IAStival line-up,
The Travelling Band and Polarsets are the latest additions to bring
their talent to the stages.
Formed in 2006 in New York City, The Travelling Band made their
first studio album 'Under The Pavement' here which was later
released in 2008 to receive critical acclaim from the UK media. The
album featured as BBC Radio 6 Music 'Album of the Day' and BBC
Radio 2's 'Single of the Week'.
This band describes itself as having "a shimmering blend of
cosmic-country-pop, understated psychedelia, vocal harmonies and
nu-folk". Quite a contrasting description from that of Polarsets
when asked to describe their music in three words "Melodic, playful
and movement".
Selected to open the Main Stage of the Evolution Festival in
Newcastle in 2010 and with support slots for Ellie Goulding,
Delphic and Field Music amongst others, Polarsets have also played
alongside Two Door Cinema Club.
Their second official single Sunshine Eyes featured on Radio 1,
with plays from Hew Stevens, Jaymo & Andy George and Zane Lowe
- who made the track his 'Next Hype' in May 2011. Polarsets also
played the BBC Introducing stage at the Radio 1 Big Weekend
2011.
